As web-based learning tools become increasingly powerful, the way we create learning content is changing. By using the web browser as a platform, learning objects can be created collaboratively from any location at any time. During this session we will create a simple learning object from start to finish using only free, online tools available through the web browser.  I hope this will provide a glimpse of what the next generation of learning content development will look like.  The specific sites that we will be using will be posted below soon and will include interacting with a subject matter expert, sketching out ideas, editing images and video, editing text, and creating the final learning object.  All of this will be done without leaving the web browser.

Tools that will be used:

1.) Online Collaboration - Thinkature, Imagination Cubed, skrbl.com

2.) Image Editing - Fauxto

3.) Video Editing - Eyespot, jumpcut.com, muveemix.com, moviemasher.com, jaycut.com

4.) Text Editing - Google Docs

5.) Learning Object Building - BrainHoney

Session Objectives:

  • Process for developing learning content on-line
  • Web 2.0 tools for creating on-line content
  • Future trends for educational media development
