OVERVIEW AND SUMMARY

Welcome to the Wiki page for the Champlain College Learning Gamelet Challenge. My name is David Flanagan and I'm a manager with KPMG's Technology Based Learning Center.

I've been asked to chronicle the adventure that four Champlain College students have chosen to accept over the course of the next few days; to build a 3-5 minute learning game to address the challenges to NextGen employees entering the workplace. The learning game must be from the perspective of the NextGen employee entering the workplace and, if possible, there should be some content from the employer's perspective.

Possible issues which have already been identified are:

  • Dress
  • Behavior
  • Fitting in
  • Developing a network of in-company knowledge resources

I'll hope that those of you who are interested will feel free to post your thoughts, comments, ideas, and anything else which comes to mind regarding this challenge. I can tell you the students are hard at work already and I'll be making several updates a day on the their progress. For reference, here are the individual photos and names of the group I'm now calling, "The Champlain Four."

Ben LaPointe - Art & Animation Major

Emily Benton - Art & Animation Major

Lauren Nishikawa - Design Major

Wesley Knee - Art & Animation Major

The faculty supporting this team while they work on this project are as follows:

Ann DeMarle - Director

Hope Wittman Martin - Senior Development Officer

Robin Lane - Faculty

Joe Manley - Faculty

And there is me, the "Wiki guy". I'm not really contributing to the team's effort, but I am hoping that you'll better appreciate their efforts by keeping track of what is happening here on the Wiki.

Remember, you can contribute here. You can update this page, add photos, leave your comments, provide your thoughts and insights. Otherwise, all you have is my chatter, and that is not nearly good enough.

Linda Backo:Hey, what was the 3D program they used to make the "news" movies in the pandemic game?
Donna Whitcomb:I too was very impressed with the games they came up with in such a short amount of time. Great Job. I also would like to be advised at to the posting of the games. I would like to demo them with some people in my organization as well.
Margo Menzies:Hi, I visited the students from Champlain during Learning2007 and I was most impressed by the team's response to the challenge to build these 2 games in real time during the conference! I've told all my colleagues what a clever lot you are and would like to be able to demo the games to people within my organisation. Can you pls advise when you'll be posting the games on the site?
