The Champlain Four Packing Up

 

I arrived at "7-ish" this morning to find the Champlain Four and staff members finishing up and packing up.  Their bus arrives to take them to the airport at 11:45 and so the last details are being wrapped up and the Four have a countdown timer running and projected up against a large screen for attendees to see.  The timer asks, "Are Your Ready?"  I think they are.  But are WE ready?

 

They were, of course, up all night working to finish everything up AND complete their nice suprise for Elliott. 

 

One faculty member, Robin, took a nap earlier in the evening and then stayed up all night with the team.  Ann managed to last until 2am before she finally had to get some sleep.  All-in-all, this whole team has worked very hard over the past four days. 

 

I received a nice email this morning from one of the parents of the team.  He thanked me for the kind words I've been saying about the team over the past four days.  What I let him know was that writing nice things about these young men and women has been very easy to do.

 

It's Wednesday morning and most here at the conference are likely a bit ragged around the edges.  We've gathered, discussed the challenges of our profession, possible futures, discussed our success stories, and even partied.

 

The Champlain Four's moment is coming.  They will get to demo their work and show conference attendees exactly how good they really are. 

 

Along the way they'll demonstrate a tad bit of irreverance.

 

I can't wait.
